4th Anniversary Celebration - "Stay with Me"

"Stay with Me". That was the theme of our anniversary celebration for this year as well as the theme for the year. As we have "Welcome Jesus" on last year Christmas celebration, now we want Him to stay forever with me (each and everyone of us).

We were glad to welcome our brothers and sisters from Gloria Chinese Methodist Church Medan again this time to take part in this joyful moment. Almost 30 of them were in this mission team. From the youngsters from the SEION Drama team until those seniors who wanted to share experiences in baking and praise dance ( 讚美操 ).

The series of this celebration was started on 12th October 2013 evening with sharing session with the moms from Senggarang and some games with children.

While, the next morning, every mission team members were happy as this the main day when they would serve the whole day. Since the morning, after breakfast time, the seniors from the team had gathered all the moms to participate in the praise dance ( 讚美操 ). Praise Dance can also be called as Praise Exercise was the movements of body like you are doing an slow and relaxing aerobics.

There was also the local traditional cake baking session taught by one of the member who was also an owner of a famous baking school in Medan. She taught us on baking steam mango flavor sponge cake (Ind: bolu kukus rasa mangga) and breaded spring roll (Ind: risoles).

Birthday Celebration
At the afternoon, by 3 pm, there were already a lot of kids and moms came to the mission home to join the birthday party. We have distributed more than 100 invitations to invite not only the English tuition students but also other kids at the Senggarang.

We chose the "sea" theme for our birthday celebration and cake. The wall paint of the home was already blue so the color was well correspond with the theme. We added on images of fishes and ships to enliven the decoration. The cake's shape was the ship sailed at the sea. It represents Jesus as the fisherman sailing who catches fishes at the sea. We as the human are the "fishes". When we have been caught by Jesus, we have been saved and we want Jesus to stay always with us.

The birthday celebration started by 4 pm with praise and worship session. Afterward, there were also songs presented by the English tuition students and Sunday School students. Our guests from Medan were also presented songs. The SEION group staged a skit drama showed how  the man felt into sin and the Savior Jesus Christ came to save the man.

The grand prizes were also placed as the background of the stage area. These were the awaited program by the moms and kids as part of this celebration party. Almost 90 prizes were contested, like rice cooker, water dispenser, sweets, crackers, household utensils, school stationary, etc. All the guests had been a coupon with the lucky draw numbers.

As the end, everybody were invited to sing the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" song on the cake cutting session. The event ended by 6 pm when everybody went back home happily.

The Cheerfulness of National Day Celebration on 2013

Who does not feel happy when they celebrate the Independence Day of Indonesia with traditional games which are identical with the Independence Day celebration? Indonesia gained her Independent on August 17, 1945 after Japan was defeated by Dutch on World War II. This year was the 68th years of independent celebration.

The joy was also rejoiced by friends from Gloria Senggarang Preaching Point, shown the enthusiasm on the Independence Day celebration, organized on Saturday, August 16, 2013. This year’s concept had little difference with the last two years. If on previous festival, only kids were participated on the games; on this year moms had to take part. There was also a simple worship and national songs presented by the kids.

These were the opening worship of the 68th Indonesia National Day carnival.

Kids were competing to find coins as many as possible, only can use their mouths put into the plates of flour.
Place your face at the bowl of flour to get the coins as many as possible
This game should not be forgotten on the 17th August festival every year: eating cracker contest. All the participants had to finish the cracker with their mouths only.
Eating Crakers Competition has been the part of the games organized all over the nation for celebrating National Day
If you ever played tug of war, you will be using thick and heavy ropes. At this time, as the kids were not able to hold heavy item, we use thin plastic ropes instead of thick and heavy ropes.

The moms had to smell the local herbs which used in the tasty Indonesia culinary with blindfold. This is one of the item competed for the moms.

Whose mom knew the taste of herbs well?
Compactness between moms and kids are checked by the game which involved the mom and kid to move the balloon using their head from one point to another. The fastest family came out as the winner.

 Congratulations to all winners!!!

After lunch, the lunch was hosted and prepared by the women fellowship members. Since few days before the day, the housewives had did the ingredients shopping and preparation. On the day itself, they had prepared the lunch since morning after sending the kids to school.
